Current Read-Aloud

This week, the children and I start to read Farmer Boy by Laura Ingalls Wilder. We finished the last read aloud on Monday.

We just adore the Little House books! (I read the entire series to the children when Patricia was 4, Benjamin was 2 & Matthias was wee babe.) Patricia owns the whole set- a gift from my parents. Eric and I bought this copy of Farmer Boy for Benjamin but my parents will start to collect the series for him. What a sweet gift- one that can be passed down for future generations! They buy the books in hardcovers, which helps them to last.

In addition to reading this book together, we are going to do a lapbook about it. You can go here to see what I'm using for it. Oh, and check out the master list of lapbooks- all FREE! :) I think I mentioned this before, but Patricia and Benjamin are in the midst of their first lapbook. They are making one from Tapestry of Grace about the Medieval Ages (our current course of study for history). The lapbook is both fun and helpful, especially for Benjamin. The children like to show it to Eric and explain what they are learning.

I'll try to post pictures of the children's lapbooks when they finish with them.
