History: "The Door in the Wall" by Marguerite de Angeli. This has been very good so far! If you are studying the Middle Ages and/or monasteries, read this book!
Eric's Read-Aloud: "Created for Work" by Bob Schultz. This book "provides practical insights for young men. .. to teach young men (and boys) what it means to be good workers." Eric has been reading this aloud to all of us and even us girls are learning. ;) We are about 1/3 of the way through it so far. Each chapter ends with questions for discussion and our time together discussing & praying over these topics has been a blessing. Excellent!
Circle Time: "Boys & girls Playing" by J.C. Ryle. I bought this book this past April at the homeschool convention. J.C. Ryle is one of my favorite author's to ready- always so encouraging while you are completely convicted. ;) We have been reading about one chapter per week- taking a small part to read, discuss & pray over during our Circle Time in the mornings. While I've had a few theological differences w/ Ryle, I would still recommend this one to anyone with children- it will encourage their faith in our Lord. Oh, and I'd recommend Reformation Heritage Books too... even if they are from Michigan.

We have enjoyed these books as well. We are also reading, "Created for Work," and are enjoying it and learning the idea that children need to start thinking now how they might be an asset to our family. I pray all of our children would learn to have a servants heart and work heartily unto the Lord. Children can be a HUGE blessing if we train them up in the fear and admonition of the Lord. It is amazing what they can do if moms and dads take the time to teach them how to work and how to do it in a way that brings glory to God.
We took a trip to the Little House sites this summer! We visited Walnut Grove as well as other sites in Wisconsin and South Dakota. Children can learn so much about priorities from pioneer history! We had a wonderful trip!
Oh, Renee! I've always wanted to go visit those places!!!
