Err!

This article makes me upset! Seriously- they do not even mention one good thing that a person can do for the environment! They devalue human life in favor of the planet. And, while the article says they do advocate gov't control, this line of thinking encourages that train of thought.

But what is truly sad is that Christians have bought the lie! If God's people do not embrace children, how can we possible expect the world to do so? This breaks my heart! All too often, we have had to defend embrace having another child, who is a precious gift of God... I just wish I could say it was only with unbelievers that we had to defend ourselves.

Yes, how sad. It is amazing how far Christians these days have strayed from the Biblical norm to consider a child to be one of the greatest GIFTS GOD could give a couple. In the Bible over and over again couples BEG GOD to give them "godly seed".

Our culture (even many Christian's sadly) takes it's mind set from Margaret Sanger, her views are essential demonic at root. Anti-life. It is so sad.

I do have to wonder though that children raised in the world's values and not taught to love others and deny itself does become something of a curse to it's parents rather than a blessing. Proverbs says a child left to themselves is a shame to his mother. People today don't realize children CAN be a blessing when trained.

I know your family is a good testimony to the children being a blessing.

Jess,

I completely agree- children left to themselves are a curse! The Bible is very clear that me must not only have babies for the sake of having them but we must train them & raise them in the fear & admonition of the Lord.

I pray that we are a faithful witness- we are by no means perfect!!! And I pray often that God's people would BEG for children.

Articles like these leave me so frustrated and sad that I have to limit how much of them I will read. We have to trust God that what HIS WORD says is TRUE and I believe that many of those who believe such as that article you linked to are maybe the ones God was speaking of in Romans 1 who worship the creation more than the Creator.

Yep, I limit my reading of this kind of thing too! But I hear about it from others asking if I fear for planet b/c we have so many children.

I always refer back to Genesis 8:21-9:1 "And the Lord smelled a sweet savour and the Lord said in his heart...While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease. And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth." (KJV)
I'm all for being a good steward of the creation God has given us, but we are not in control, no matter how much we recycle or conserve, reduce or reuse. God is in control of it ALL. After he promised to keep things running, THEN He commanded Noah to be fruitful and multiply. Isn't that a wonderful thing! The earth will be here for as long as God allows and so many people (Christians and non alike) are missing out on one of God's greatest gifts - children because they are worried that God can't handle things! I have to chuckle when I think about it.
I have people who question our desire to have 6 children (for now) but so far, nobody personally has said anything about my family size and the environmental impact. Whew! But, when they do, Geneses is where I'll take them!
