Current Read Alouds

Circle Time: I think I mentioned this in an earlier weekly report post, but we are reading "Training Hearts, Teaching Minds" by Starr Meade. We are slowly making our way through these devotions based on the Westminster Shorter Catechism. (Slowly b/c we only read from it 3 days a week.) It has helped the children understand the catechism and they enjoy discussing it & looking up the Scripture passage to read aloud. The devotions are short, so they are easy to cover with children. My one tiff with the book is that they use the updated catechism, which means I'm having to write the older version on the side. Er!

Literature:

"When We Were Very Young" by A. A. Milne. I've overheard Elizabeth talking to Pooh and Piglet several times when she is playing alone in her room. So cute! :)

Patricia: She should finish reading this today to the children:

This is the next book she plans on reading:

The older children have read these books several times but they still enjoy them. E. B. White and A. A. Milne are favorite authors around here! And, why shouldn't they be? Talking pigs & mice and stuffed animals that come alive to explore & play are the things of childhood. :)
