Teaching Jonathan the Letter "M"

This week, Jonathan is learning about the letter "m." (Why do I feel the need to justify- um, I mean explain- the fact that he has just begun to learn his letters/sounds? If only I could get over my desire to please man vs. my Creator! Anyway, this is not the point of this post!) Here is how part of our lesson went yesterday:

Mama: Jonathan this is the letter M and it says "mmmm!" Can you say that?

Jonathan: That's easy! Like, "MMMMM, that food tastes good!"

Yep! Now if only I could tie all the letters and sounds to food... :)

He's 4! Great job, Mama!

Check your library for Lois Ehlert's Growing the Alphabet ... granted it is all fruit/vegetables, but I just love her art and there is a food for every letter :) I bought the board book.

Thanks, Dawn! Both for the encouragement & the book recommendation. It will be good to talk in person in April!

Food is a great motivator! Especially for boys. Way to go Jonathan!
