Current Read Alouds

Literature:

"On the Banks of Plum Creek" by Laura Ingalls Wilder. Again, this series is a family favorite. Sometimes I wonder if I need to read these aloud because the children remember the stories so well but it is fun to read it to the younger children. Besides, I enjoy them also!

Circle Time:

"Wise Words" by Peter J. Leithart. Here is part of the description from the back of the book:

"Following the tradition of Grimm's fairy tales, these bedtime stories wander down stardusted paths, gallop to mountaintop castles, and thread through dragons' lairs. At the same time. these eighteen adventures echo and illustrate the lessons of Proverbs in a manner sure to delight readers of all ages."

We have read 3 of the adventures thus far & the children are begging for more! We talk about the morals from each story & how it applies to the Proverb. (Sometimes we narrate & write.) I'm sure that it is going over the younger one's heads but we are laying a foundation. Besides, we'll come back & reread this one again.

We are still reading this during Circle Time also. It will take us awhile to finish this. I've had some great discussions with the children & I praise God for the work He is doing in their hearts!

Benjamin:
Well, we started this way back in May but then it got lost in the mix. :( So, we've begun anew. Benjamin is working hard to learn to articulate his words clearly as he reads.

I'll post later (Lord-willing... how often do I write that I'll post later about something & then never follow through. Sigh.) about history. Off to prepare lunch!
