I've been battling some additional health issues, so I thought I would give an update on our blog.
The OB dr told me a few weeks ago that I was anemic, so I began to take some supplements hoping it would help my iron count to increase. Last week I started to experience extreme weakness w/ dizziness so I went to see the OB again. They decided I needed to see a specialist because my iron count was not rising.
I went to see a hematologist yesterday about my acute anemia. His plan of action is to give me an intravenous administration of iron one day a week for four weeks. My #s are so low that supplements are not enough right now. He says this should bring my #s up & help the extreme fatigue/dizziness/weakness to go away. What a blessing that would be!
He also ran tests to make sure nothing else is wrong. (My insurance must really love me right now!) He is concerned that I am taking my blood thinner, Lovenox, once a day- he says that due to my pregnancy, my kidneys are working overtime & therefore the Lovenox doesn't stay in my system that long. He wants to change my meds to two shots a day. Oh, yeah. :) He'll meet with my lung & ob dr & write a script next week. Sounds like he treats people w/ blood clots & I might switch to seeing him.
I go for my first administration of iron next Wednesday & will have to be there most of the day. Eric has to go with me, as I am not allowed to drive after wards. We were told to bring a lunch & bring something to do so it looks like we get to have a date. :)
Thank you for your prayers! I was reminded again that I am blessed to still be alive after my clots in my lungs & I'm thankful for treatment to help me feel better! :) And, yes- I am resting & taking it slow (or as much is possible).
