2014 Photography Goals

The new year always brings about resolutions, or as I like to call them, goals. It's a great time to look back at the previous year & see how the Lord has worked in your life. It's also a time of personal reflection & a time to make plans for the new year. Many of my goals never get done but that's okay! I thought it would be good to write out some of my goals- I've got several lists going for educational pursuits, our home & personal but I'll share photography in this post.

Eric gifted me with a DSLR camera in April of 2013. I enjoyed taking some pictures but then suffered the devastating lost of most of them when our computer crashed. BACK UP YOUR COMPUTER (esp your pictures!) TO AN EXTERNAL SITE!!! In November of 2013, I took the plunge and began a Project 365 with the goal of taking one picture each day for a year. I decided that I wanted to become serious in learning manual mode & photography. I have no aspirations of becoming a professional but I'd like to capture quality images for our family. I haven't quite done my Project 365 every day but I'm definitely taking more pictures than before. It will be fun to look back in a year and see all that I've learned!

Here is a list of photography goals for 2014:

1. Become comfortable with manual mode & learn white balance. I'd like to possibly learn b&w photography too but we'll have to see. My learning curve is slow.

2. Complete my Project 365. You can follow along under the header up at the top of our blog. The goal is to take a picture daily, edit & upload it.

3. Edit & print pictures. Spend at least 15 minutes a day editing. I want to print pictures once a month. Project 365 is top priority but I'd like to print pictures for the children's childhood albums. (See goal #6.)

4. Photograph ideas per month: group shot of children, individual shot of each of the children, self-portrait, parent with child/children shots. I've got some fun blog post ideas to help me remember to get these shots!

5. Continue learning via education. I need to finish my Lightroom workshop from Laura Shoe. I'd love to take some workshops from Clickin Moms! E-learning would be a fun (and economical) outlet also.

6. Catch up with albums! Spend at least 15 minutes a day working on albums. Eric wants me to scrapbook once a month. My goal is finish all baby albums & print out our blog book for 2013 using Blurb. If I can start childhood albums & copy more years of our blog, great!

What about you? What are some of your 2014 goals?

You have big goals! LOL I'm just doing good to take pictures of my baby frequently. I didn't remember it being so difficult with the 7th child, but having 8 has really thrown me for a loop. You seem to be doing pretty well. Yay!
