Memory Work: Week of February 8, 2015

I'd love to hear what you're memorizing this week! :):):) You'll notice that we have several things from last week- it often happens that way.

Memory Work for the Week of February 8, 2015:

Bible: the older three children are memorizing Isaiah 53:5-8; Jonathan & Elizabeth are working on Isaiah 53:1-4; Abigail & Emily are reviewing Genesis 1:1. Everyone is reviewing the hymn Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise and The Apostle's Creed.

Catechism: We didn't recite for Eric so everyone didn't move on yet. For the Children's Catechism, Emily is learning #1-3; Abigail is learning #9 & beyond; Jonathan & Elizabeth #56 & beyond. For the Shorter Catechism, Matthias is memorizing #21 & beyond, while Benjamin is learning #84 & beyond. Patricia is learning #20 & beyond for the Heidelberg Catechism.

Poetry & Rhyme: Courage by Sister M. Eulalia for the older children; Jonathan Bing by Beatrice Curtis Brown for Jonathan & Elizabeth; Ooey Gooey for Abigail & Emily.

Shakespeare: A Midsummer Night's Dream, Act 2, Scene 2.

Latin Songs: Animal Song for all; Quid Agis Song for Jonathan & Elizabeth; Salve/Valve for Abigail & Emily.

Geography & History: for US mapwork, we're reviewing Eastern Border and Pacific States songs.We are still memorizing CC cycle 1, week 15 ("tell me about Henry the Navigator") & timeline cards #1-63 with hand motions.

Science: CC Acts & Facts Science: Biology/Geology Cards fact (cycle 1, week 13): what are some parts of the earth?

Math: this week we are reviewing skip counting by 3, 4, 5 & 6 (we use CC tunes- so catchy). Abigail is focusing on learning to skip count by 1 & 2.

Grammar: we are reviewing Shurley English Jingles: Adverbs, as well as learning the Spelling Jingles #3 (two vowels rule) from Phonetic Zoo.
