Read-Aloud Thursday: March 2, 2012

Okay, I know it is Friday. But could we just pretend it is Thursday? Because I really did mean to post this yesterday! ;)

We finally finished Black Beauty by Anna Sewell. Yahoo! We were all a bit disappointed. Seriously- could any more depressing things occur in one book to one character? A book doesn't have to be all happiness but this one just seemed so gloomy.

On Wednesday, we also started a new read aloud: Bambii by Felix Salten. I'll post about it when we are done!

Be sure to click on the button above to see more Read Aloud Thursday posts! It's been good to get back to reading aloud!

Black Beauty is one of my favorite, but wait until you read the next story. Neat books should not have sad parts in it. Nanny

RAT on a Friday? Fine by me! :-) My girls have been listening to Black Beauty (the free one from LibriVox) over and over again the past couple of weeks. It's one of my favorites from childhood. I've never read Bambi, though.

Okay - found a read-aloud that you - and the BOYS - will love, if you haven't read it already. Little Britches by Ralph Moody. It has some (completely unnecessary and extraneous) profanity so it must be a read-aloud for you to change the words. Otherwise, it's such a wonderful story that I have no idea why it even has profanity in it. We are getting such a kick out of it and the way the father is teaching his son to be a man...check it out.

I'll second Casey! We love love love Little Britches. It isn't just for boys, M-girl loves it and says it is her favorite read aloud we've done.

Definitely agree that you must read aloud to edit on the fly.
